Celebrity Cruises is set to launch a new premium river cruise vacation offering, Celebrity River Cruises, which will start booking this year. The company has ordered 10 new ships for this purpose, which will ferry guests to historic cities along some of the world's most iconic rivers, starting in Europe.

The new river cruises will adopt the design and sophistication of the company's Edge Series ocean ships. The company aims to deliver unique experiences by combining this with its renowned hospitality and unique itinerary offerings.

According to Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, the parent company of Celebrity Cruises, the new venture is a response to the growing demand for intimate, culturally enriching travel experiences. He mentioned that about half of their guests have experienced or are interested in river cruises, affirming their confidence in this new venture.

The river cruises will give guests an immersive experience of culturally and historically significant cities, with locally inspired cuisine and unique shore experiences.

Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises, said that the company plans to bring the quality and sophistication of its ocean ships to the river cruises, along with authentic, destination-rich itineraries for a unique guest experience.
